TIRTIR Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation Review

*I purposefully did not apply foundation to the acne spot beneath my lip. Also, I like applying a thin layer but it is definitely buildable to get an even fuller-coverage look

I love cushion foundations. That’s why when this K-beauty red cushion foundation went viral all over Tiktok, I HAD to try it. I already finished the first compact and just purchased two more, the mini size and the regular. Let me tell you more about why I couldn’t live a day without it…

Ingredients

Their full ingredient list consists of:

ingredients list

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Propanediol, Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Isododecane, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Methyl Trimethicone, Niacinamide, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Octyldodecanol, Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Haematococcus Pluvialis Oil, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Rosa Rugosa Flower Extract, Pancratium Maritimum Extract, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Propolis Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Alumina, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Adenosine, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Cetearyl Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Astaxanthin, Potassium Sorbate, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)

To highlight:

  • The cushion foundation provides a whopping SPF 40 PA++ to protect skin from harsh UV rays
  • It contains ingredients such as Niacinamide which is known to help fight off acne, nourish the skin, while giving it a brighter glow
  • Also is infused with Hibiscus and Red Propolis Extracts to improve skin elasticity.

How to Use

First, prepare your face with the right skincare for the base of your makeup (maybe try the COSRX snail mucin essence). Dab the puff onto the foundation soaked pad and MAKE SURE to dab off the excess on the lid to evenly distribute the product. Lightly pat the foundation into the skin and blend, working from the center and out. You might want to work quickly as it does dry down pretty fast.

Packaging and Puff

The packaging and the puff are on the bigger side compared to a regular compact and are oval in shape. This has pros and cons depending on what you prefer. Personally I love that because it is bigger, you get more foundation per product. However, the size does make it harder to carry around and you might have to purchase the mini one. Also I’m not really a big fan of the puff size and shape. I noticed I only get product on the middle/top portion of the puff. That means the bottom half is left unused so it’s just kind of…there. I prefer the rounded puffs with the pointed angle on one end because I think it’s the perfect size and covers a great amount of area. But this is complete personal preference and is not a deal breaker in my opinion.

Shade Range

The reason why Tirtir went viral over social media- their inclusive shade range! Unlike other korean brands which release around five shades , Tirtir came out with a whopping 40!! I personally use the 21N shade (I use that shade for every other brand too) and it works pretty well for my skin. Unfortunately it does oxidize the longer you have the product so if you are debating between shades, I recommend going for the lighter one because it will eventually get darker.

Finish

*I purposefully did not apply foundation to the acne spot beneath my lip. Also, I like applying a thin layer but it is definitely buildable to get an even fuller-coverage look

Tirtir claims for their cushion foundation to be semi-matte and buildable full coverage finish. I can testify that these claims are accurate. Not only does the cushion foundation provide a semi-matte THAT IS ACTUALLY SEMI-MATTE but provides full coverage without making your skin look or feel cakey. What I mean by providing actually semi-matte coverage is that American foundations that advertise as being matte make my face look flat, cakey, leave patch marks, and make my skin look dry. On the other hand, korean foundations that advertise as being semi-matte still leave my face very glowy and by the end of the night I’m left shinier than the moon due to my oily skin. But the Tirtir cushion foundation leaves me with a matte-look with a bit of glow til the end of the day. Its the first semi-matte cushion foundation I’ve used that actually is long lasting and mattifying while providing me with a healthy finish.

Final Verdict on the TirTir Cushion Foundation – the Results

I love it! It’s my favorite and go-to foundation right now! I love that it gives me a flawless, high-coverage, non-cakey finish and my mom always compliments me on my skin whenever I wear it. It’s more mattifying but not too mattifying so it gives me a slight sheen while maintaining my oiliness which I really like. Because of the ingredients as well, it doesn’t irritate my skin nor have caused me any acne. The only con is it is a little pricey, as you only get .63 fl oz for $25 whereas other cushion foundations cost $30 for 1.06 fl oz (including the refill). Nonetheless, I believe it’s worth every penny and I highly recommend it those who have oily/combination skin and wanting a full-coverage finish. Try it for yourself and you’ll soon see why I cannot live a day without it^^
